1. General Conduct
- Assistance If you require assistance at any time during your session, please notify a staff member. We are here to help.
- Respect All clients, guests, and staff must be treated with courtesy and professionalism. Disruptive, abusive, or threatening behaviour will result in immediate termination of the session without refund.
- Authorized Guests Only pre-approved guests may be present during a session. The client is responsible for the conduct of all persons they bring onto the premises.
2. Booking, Scheduling & Payment
- Advance Booking All studio time must be reserved in advance. Walk-in sessions are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.
- Punctuality Clients are expected to arrive on time. Late arrivals will not receive additional session time and will be billed for the full booked duration.
- Cancellation Policy Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled session to avoid a cancellation fee. Late cancellations may be charged up to the full session rate at our discretion.
- Overtime Sessions extending beyond the booked time will be billed at the standard hourly rate, subject to availability.
- Payment We accept cash and e-transfer only. Payment is due at the time of the session unless otherwise agreed in writing.
3. Equipment & Facility Use
- Care of Equipment Clients must handle all studio equipment with care. Intentional damage or damage resulting from negligence will be billed at replacement or repair cost. Accidental damage occurring despite reasonable care is forgiven.
- Speaker Adjustment Clients must not adjust the studio monitors or speaker positioning, as they are calibrated for the room. Please ask staff for assistance with audio levels.
- Liquids No liquids are permitted on any surface near studio equipment. All beverages must be placed on the floor. Sealed water bottles are permitted within the studio space.
- Food Food is not permitted in proximity to studio equipment at any time.
4. Smoking & Substances
- Smoking Smoking is permitted inside the studio. Ashtrays are provided throughout the space. Clients are asked to exercise caution near drum skins and other heat-sensitive equipment, as sparks or ash may cause damage.
- Substances Chromatel Recording Studio does not condone illegal activity on its premises. Any substance use is at the sole discretion and responsibility of the client, who assumes all associated legal and personal liability.
5. Surveillance & Privacy
- Monitoring The entire facility is under continuous 24/7 video and audio surveillance for the safety and security of all parties. By entering the premises, clients consent to being recorded.
- Computer Use All activity on studio computers, including web browsing and file access, is logged and monitored.
- Data Privacy Chromatel Recording Studio is a registered Quebec business and complies with Quebec Law 25 (Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector) and all applicable Canadian federal privacy legislation.
6. Intellectual Property & Recordings
- Client Ownership Clients retain full ownership of all original recordings produced during their session.
- Promotional Use Chromatel reserves the right to use brief excerpts of recordings for promotional purposes (e.g., demo reels, social media). Clients who do not wish their recordings used in this manner must notify us in writing prior to or at the start of their session.
- Copyright Compliance Clients are solely responsible for ensuring that all material recorded during their session complies with applicable copyright law. Chromatel assumes no liability for copyright infringement by clients.
7. Data & File Backup
- Client Responsibility While Chromatel takes reasonable precautions to preserve session files, we cannot guarantee against data loss due to hardware failure, software error, or unforeseen circumstances. Clients are strongly encouraged to bring their own storage media and back up all files before leaving.
- File Retention Session files may be retained on studio systems for a limited period at our discretion. Chromatel is not responsible for files deleted after a session concludes.
8. Health & Safety
- Hearing Protection Sessions may produce high sound pressure levels. Clients and guests are advised to use appropriate hearing protection, particularly during sessions involving live drums or amplified instruments.
- General Safety Clients must follow all posted safety guidelines and any instructions given by staff. Chromatel is not liable for personal injury resulting from failure to follow reasonable safety precautions.
9. Limitation of Liability
- General Chromatel Recording Studio's liability to any client shall not exceed the total fees paid for the session in question. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind.
- Personal Property Chromatel is not responsible for loss or damage to personal property brought onto the premises.
10. Amendments
- Updates These Terms of Service may be updated periodically. The current version will always be available on our website. Continued use of the studio constitutes acceptance of the most recent terms.
